Nellore, Sept 20 (KNN)  Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) is planning to set aside land to encourage micro, small and medium enterprises in the region to set up environmental friendly / pollution free industries.

APIIC has earmarked 200 acres of land in Menakuru and 100 acres of land in Mambattur here for this purpose.  This land will be divided into half acre to 5 acre plots and a detailed project report will be given to the Centre, seeking financial assistance for infrastructure development, a Deccan Chronicle report has said.

Nellore district has a number of industrial parks and SEZs set up by APIIC and/or private companies, according to official data.  While Menakuru SEZ is a multi-product SEZ near Naidupeta in 2550 acres covering Dwarakapuram, Pallepalem, Menkuru, Konetrajupalem and Palluchuru villages with employment potential of 3,000; Mambattu SEZ is spread over 250 acres in Mambattu village near Sullurupet.  The SEZ is managed by APIIC and is said to have an employment potential of 10,000.

In June this year, APllC in technical cooperation with GIZ initiated a month long "Industrial Environmental Improvement Drive" (IEID) in about 58 selected Industrial Parks of APIIC spread across all its 8 zones in Andhra Pradesh.

The drive is aimed at bringing in environmental awareness and initiates the process of retrofitting the existing Industrial Parks in Andhra Pradesh into environmental friendly Industrial Parks.

As a part of the drive there will be interactive meets, cleanliness drive, municipal solid waste management, storm water drains management, tree plantation, energy efficiency and renewable energy measures, awareness programmes, and corporate social responsibility activities.  (KNN/ES)
