Speaking exclusively with KNN, Sandeep Jain, MD of automotive parts manufacturer Solo Group and VP, FISME said, “Although it is not an expansion it is a step towards development for the state of Haryana because for the past 5-6 years Maruti Suzuki India wanted to move out of Gurugram as the town grew around its plant.”

There were speculations that they were dissatisfied with the government and we are glad that they are shifting their plant within the state, he added.

This is the automaker’s third plant in the state of Haryana. The agreements were signed between HSIIDC and Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL)/Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited.

Calling it a game changer Rakesh Chhabra, Managing Partner, Sonipat based Choudhary Enterprises told KNN that a good life style can be expected to flourish in Sonipat in the coming years offering a much awaited boost to the related micro businesses.

“The Employment generation can increase by huge numbers. The direct Employment is estimated at 13000 but additional employees at subsidiary companies, other services can be expected it from 50000-75000,” he said.

Labelling it as a significant event for the state, CM Khattar said 40 years ago an MoU was signed which changed the destiny of Haryana's development.

“And today through this new agreement HSIIDC has approved 900 acres of land to Maruti Suzuki,” he added.

Based on administrative approvals, the manufacturing capacity of the new plant in first phase estimated at 2.5 lakh units per annum is likely to be commissioned by 2025.

The investment in the first phase would be over Rs 11,000 crore and the site will have space for capacity expansion to include more manufacturing plants in the future.  (KNN Bureau)
