Coimbatore Industries Centre submits Coir cluster project proposal to MSME-DI, operation likely to begin from 2023

Coimbatore, Mar 14 (KNN) The District Industries Centre (DIC), Coimbatore has submitted a proposal to MSME Development Institute (MSME-DI) for the approval of a coir cluster project at Pollachi and the set-up is expected to begin by next financial year.

Along with the coir project, two more projects are under planning, B. Karthigaivasan, General Manager of District Industries Centre told the media.

Cluster for jewellery production and an aluminium die casting industry are the two other projects which require approval from the authorities.

S.M. Kamal Hasan, president of Coimbatore Goldsmiths’ Association, said the DIC was co-ordinating with the goldsmiths for the gold jewellery cluster and the DPR was getting ready which would benefit a large number of goldsmiths.

As per media reports, the jewellery cluster involves about 20 people and the aluminium project has around 24 members and would benefit almost 65 units.

The Rs 5.7 crore aluminium die casting cluster will be implemented under the State government’s common production infrastructure scheme.

Micro and small units are likely to get the benefit of the common facility centre to be set up under the project would have hydraulic die casting machine, trimming press and electrical furnace.

A grant of 70 per cent of the project cost or a maximum of Rs 2.5 crore will be given by the State government. (KNN Bureau)
