Construction of CETP for MSMEs at Pimpri Chinchwad delayed

Pune, Aug 8 (KNN) According to the environmental status report submitted at the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) the construction of a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) for MSMEs at Pimpri Chinchwad in Maharashtra has been further delayed.

Around 50 MLD of untreated domestic and industrial effluents are released into the Pavana and Indrayani rivers, leading to pollution of water bodies at Dapodi, Sangvi, Pimple Gurav, Pimpri Chinchwad, and Ravet.

According to a media report, the 2017-18 environmental status report submitted at the PCMC general body meeting on July 31 revealed this.

The CETP was being constructed by PCMC in association with Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, and the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture. CETP was to be constructed under the Amrut project in the next two years.
