Cottage industry units of Sangrur write to Chief Minister, urges handholding

New Delhi, Mar 6 (KNN) Eyeing at raising the concerns of the sector, the cottage industry units and small scale industry units in the Sangrur district have written to CM Captain Amarinder Singh.

The units have informed that their demands regarding the procurement of raw materials as well as better facilities for maintenance have been pending since long.

These demands were raised during a district-level meeting of the Sangrur District Industry Chamber (SDIC).

The participating unit owners also informed that because of the problems surrounding their sector, the small scale industries and cottage industries are experiencing tough times.

Rationalisation of book-keeping procedure, uninterrupted power supply, welfare of industrial workers and improvement of medical facility for workers dominated the list of demands raised during the meeting.

The units also urged for a simple mechanism to be introduced for file processing at various government desks in order to have a MSME friendly ecosystem in the state.

Besides this, the units demanded representation of the Ramgarhia community in the Cabinet of the state government through a berth for Amargarh MLA Surjit Singh Dhiman.

Also along similar lines, Punjab Minister for Local Government, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Navjot Singh Sidhu during an industry event said that the ‘single-window’ clearance system provided by state government is in place to ease things for the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).  (With Inputs from a media report) (KNN/DA)
