Dadra & Nagar Haveli industries exempted from lockdown to continue functioning; willful absenteeism of employees to be deemed as Strike: DM

Silvassa, Apr 15 (KNN) The District Magistrate of Dadra and Nagar Haveli has allowed all the industrial establishments that have been exempted from the lockdown, to continue to run their industry by employing minimum required number of workers.
Most of the micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) has engaged in the production/ manufacturing of essential commodities across the country.
In an order, the District Magistrate of D&NH Sandeep Kumar Singh said, “all the industrial establishments that have been exempted from the Lockdown, may continue to run their respective industry by employing minimum required number of workers and during the said Lockdown.”
He further added that, “in case, any worker/ employee/ officer/ official etc willfully absents himself/ herself, even after being called/ informed by the Management or Superior Officers, then such absenteeism shall be deemed as a “Strike” as per the sub-clause (b) of sub-section (1) of Section 2 of the Essential Services Management Act, 1981 and such worker/ employee/ officer/ official shall be subjected to penalty under the Essential Services Maintenance Act, 1981.”
Meanwhile, the DM said that all such exempted industries/ offices in D&NH shall comply with all the necessary directives with regards to the procedure/ conditions/ qua social distancing, sanitizing and safety from Coronavirus (Covid-19) issued by the Central Government. (KNN Bureau)
