Dehradun holds handloom expo after two years

Dehradun, May 28 (KNN) Since the outbreak of covid-19 pandemic in 2020, Dehradun is now hosting the 15th edition of the National Handloom Expo from May 23 to June 5 after 2 years. 

The exhibition is taking place at the Race Course ground and more than 100 stalls from over 15 states have been set up at the expo.

SC Nautiyal, Director, Industries said that the last edition was held in January 2020 and we will try to have another expo at the end of this year. 

“Footfall is good and is expected to improve over the weekend. There is a wide range of handloom and handicraft products available here. After the pandemic phase, people have started reverting to the use of natural products and the expo is catering to the demand,” he added. 

The stalls showcase sarees, handbags, shoe racks, carpets and other handmade products. Besides, regional food stalls etc. 

In the evening hours cultural activities takes place which remains the centre of attraction for most visitors at the expo. (KNN Bureau)
