Delhi govt bans large gatherings amid Coronavirus outbreak; says Shaheen Bagh also under its ambit

New Delhi, Mar 16 (KNN) In order to stop coronavirus spread, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced that all gyms, night clubs and spas in the national capital will remain closed till 31 March.

"All gyms, night clubs, spas to be closed till March 31st. Any gathering with more than 50 persons excluding weddings will not be allowed. For weddings also, we request if they can be postponed then please do so," said Kejriwal during a news conference.

He further said that gathering with more than 50 persons except weddings will not be allowed in the capital.

"No religious, social, cultural and political gathering comprising more than 50 people will be allowed till March 31. The restriction is applicable to protests too," said the Delhi CM added.

The ban will also cover protests including the one against the amended citizenship law in Shaheen Bagh, said Kejriwal.

“This will be applicable for all. Whether it is a protest or anything else, people will have to follow it,” the chief minister said while replying to a reporter’s question.

So far, there have been seven coronavirus in Delhi of which two have been cured and one death has been reported.

A total of 110 cases of coronavirus, including 17 foreign nationals, have been confirmed across India, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Sunday.
