Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Unveils 53 Projects Worth Rs 214 Crore for Unauthorised Colonies

New Delhi, Sep 29 (KNN) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday laid the foundation stones for 53 development projects worth Rs 214.12 crore across five Assembly constituencies, with the works expected to benefit around 1.75 lakh residents of unauthorised colonies.

Launched under the Delhi government's Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, the projects focus primarily on improving roads and drainage infrastructure in areas that have faced prolonged waterlogging, damaged roads and poor civic amenities.

1,062 Roads And Lanes To Be Developed

According to the Delhi government, the projects will cover 1,062 roads and lanes across 27 unauthorised colonies. Around 89.82 km of roads and 147.69 km of drainage network will be developed under the programme.

Gupta emphasised that roads, drains and sewerage infrastructure are basic rights of every citizen, adding that the objective was to ensure that the benefits of development reach every lane and area of Delhi.

The proposed stormwater drainage networks are intended to improve water discharge and reduce waterlogging, while paved roads and lanes are expected to improve local connectivity and reduce dust from damaged and unpaved surfaces.

Kirari Gets Largest Share

Kirari will account for the largest share of the projects, with 27 works worth Rs 105.51 crore planned across 14 unauthorised colonies. The works will cover 640 roads and lanes, including 50.71 km of roads and 101.42 km of drainage network.

Bawana will see nine projects worth Rs 38.83 crore, while five projects worth Rs 22.05 crore will be taken up in Mundka.

Narela will have four projects worth Rs 14.48 crore, while eight projects costing Rs 33.25 crore will be implemented in Nangloi Jat.

The Delhi government said the projects are intended to address long-standing infrastructure gaps in the selected colonies through planned improvements to roads and drainage systems.
