New Delhi, Oct 8 (KNN) The Delhi government has finalised a proposal to develop three new industrial areas in Kanjhawala, Ranikhera, and Baprola, which will soon be presented before the cabinet for approval, senior officials said.
The initiative aims to promote economic growth by setting up modern, eco-friendly industrial zones focused on advanced and knowledge-based industries.
These areas will help relocate non-polluting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from residential neighbourhoods, fostering a more balanced and sustainable urban economy.
Industries Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said the government will prioritise frontier sectors such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and advanced robotics.
Financial support will be provided to help these industries scale up. The project will be implemented through a public-private partnership (PPP) model.
Covering nearly 1,200 acres, the new zones are expected to generate lakhs of jobs in the coming years. Ranikhera, with 147 acres, was previously allocated for an industrial hub, while Baprola, spread over 137 acres in southwest Delhi, is planned to become a world-class electronic city with “plug-and-play” facilities.
Unlike traditional factory-based estates, the new industrial areas will be designed as integrated satellite towns—combining office spaces, residential zones, community centres, hotels, markets, and clubs to enhance liveability.
A senior official said the government aims to replicate Gurgaon’s Cyber City model, ensuring robust transport connectivity through coordination with Delhi Metro and DTC.
At present, Delhi has 29 planned industrial estates and 25 non-conforming industrial pockets under the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC).
The upcoming industrial zones will also prioritise green infrastructure to minimise environmental impact and attract global investors.
