DIPP urges states to fast-track contract enforcement for ease of doing business

New Delhi, Nov 27 (KNN) The contract enforcement needed to be strengthened in the country as MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) have to wait 4-6 years for contract enforcement, Shailendra Singh, Additional Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) said while addressing a regional conference on ease of doing business in South India organised by the CII.

The Additional Secretary informed that DIPP has introduced 372 specific action points for state governments in its business reform action plan and half of the states have consented with the points suggested by DIPP.

He added that the Trade licenses and registration of societies will be brought under the Public Services Delivery Act to enable their prompt clearing and on the Industry’s advice, the states will be ranked on the basis of ease of doing business.

S Mahalingam, Chairman – CII-Southern Region Subcommittee on Economic Affairs & GST in a press interview said that construction permits, registration of businesses, trading across borders and enforcing contracts are roadblocks to realize the industry’s dream of ease of doing business.

He added that CII will present model state budget for state governments this month to strengthen the ease of doing business in the country. (KNN/AG)
