DPCC bans list of single use plastic for Manufacturers, Importers w.e.f from July 1

New Delhi, Feb 12 (KNN) The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has issued a public notice prohibiting manufacturing, importing, stocking, distribution, sale and use of certain single use plastic, including polystyrene and expanded polystyrene with effect from the 1st July, 2022.

The items included in the prohibition list are ear buds with plastic sticks, plastic sticks for balloons, plastic flags, candy sticks, ice-cream sticks, polystyrene [Thermocol] for decoration. 

It also includes plates, cups, glasses, cutlery such as forks, spoons, knives, straw, trays, wrapping or packing films around sweet boxes, invitation cards, and cigarette packets, plastic or PVC banners less than 100 micron, stirrers.

Further it has made it compulsory that carry bags made of virgin or recycled plastic shall not be less than One Hundred Twenty (120) microns in thickness w.e.f. 31st December, 2022.

For sachets using plastic material shall not be used for storing, packing or selling gutkha, tobacco and pan masala.
