Chandigarh, Dec 20 (KNN) The Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training (DTE&IT)  wants to partner with the private sector for setting up Multi Skill Development Centres (MSDC) on 'Hub and Spoke' model with placement facilities in Punjab.

The Hub and Spoke model is used in the context of multi-location sourcing wherein a central consolidator called the ‘Hub’ provides a single face to the customer while seamless extensions called ‘Spokes’ are leveraged to provide the services, distributed across multiple locations.

The centres will be set up at four locations - Ludhiana, Bhatinda, Amritsar and Hoshirapur in Punjab.

DTE&IT which would act as the Concessioning Authority seeks bids from private entities to undertake an entire gamut of roles of advisory, infrastructure, planning, curriculum development, operations, training and placement.

The private sector player would be given an annual target skill upgraded trainee creation and annual target of placement at each centre in lieu of an annual consultancy fee per hub.

The private sector player will also have to prepare a detailed consultancy plan with two major components - project development plan and skill development plan for each hub / cluster  based on which the project would be executed.

The four centres would act as central locations and with each of these locations 10 – 14 ITI / polytechnic institutes would be attached for imparting skill upgradation training.

The Industrial Training Wing of Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training has been entrusted with the responsibility of imparting vocational training in Engineering and non-engineering trades under craftsman training scheme and applied training scheme to cater to the need of the industry in respect of skilled workers.

The Department is looking after 82 Engineering Colleges and 92 Polytechnics and 25 Pharmacy (Exclusive) Institutions and 180 Industrial Training Institutes including the ones in the private sector.   (KNN/SD)
