E-auction of industrial plots a bit expensive for MSMEs: Punjab MSMEs

Chandigarh, Apr 30 (KNN) The decision to e-auction industrial plots by Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC) is on one hand applauded by the some section of industries in Punjab as its now easier and quicker compared to earlier system, while on the other hand it has been criticized by others due to high pricing.

Speaking with KNN India, President of Federation of Punjab Small Industries Association (FOPSIA), Badish Jindal said “The plots are not planned where the requirements are and where there are plots there are no requirements.”

He said, since the prices of auctions are high such that even these auctions are done sometimes but people are not interested in buying them.

He added, due to the higher prices they must add easy installments to buy these plots.

Appreciating the move to e-auction industrial plots, President of Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) Upkar Singh Ahuja said, it is a good move as they have streamlined it online to help MSME’s.”

Now it is easy for MSMEs as all the work is shifted online, said Ahuja

He said “Since prices are high for small industries, the plots will be planned on competitive prices.”

These e-auctions would be done through www.psiec.in and etender.punjabgovt.gov.in.

In October last year, the Punjab Government decided to sale the plots of PSIEC through e- Auction to do away with the practice of sale of its industrial plots through draw of lots.

Earlier, the allotment of industrial plots was executed under the notified policy of the Punjab government.

Under previous policies, applications were invited from the general public by PSIEC, and after this, respective committees would conduct interviews, and the final allotment of plots was executed through a draw of lots. (KNN/CM)
