New Delhi, Dec 23 (KNN) With the centre announcing the implementation of the e-Way bill norm under the Goods and Services tax (GST) for the movement of goods, the Delhi government is not in favour of the new upcoming norm, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia informed.

Sisodia during a meeting with GST support Market Committees said that that the e-way bill is against the very essence of One Nation One Tax logline of GST.

He further hinted that the Delhi government is unlikely to be implementing the e-way bill mechanism if the traders in the city do not want the system.

Earlier, Ministry of Finance in a statement said that it has decided to roll out nationwide e-way bill on a trial basis for the initial period starting from 16th January, welcoming traders and transporters to use it on a voluntary basis.

However with regard to the inter-state and intra-state implementation, the Finance Ministry notified that the States may choose their own timings for implementation of e-way Bill for intra-State movement of goods.(KNN/ DA)
