Eastern Central Railway to involve private companies to maintain freight terminal

Patna, May 13 (KNN) India Railway wants to involve private sector in the development of its freight terminal to handle third party cargo under its Private Freight Terminal (PFT) scheme to be launched soon.
 
Under the scheme, new terminal on private land may be developed by the East Central Railway. Even the existing private siding may also be connected under this scheme.
 
The terminal will be equipped with appropriate infrastructure and handling equipment such as internal road, parking space, circulating area, warehousing, staking space etc to handle traffic.
 
In this context, East Central Railway, which has a vast network of 5230 track kilometre and 3624 route kilometres encompassing the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradhesh has sought for private companies for the development of PFT.
 
The locations in which PFT has to be developed are - Sarai in Sonepur Division; and Bhelwa and Tarsarai in Samastipur Division.
 
Meanwhile, East Central Railway (ECR) will also be involving private sector by outsourcing its contract of mechanized washing of Linen of AC coaches of its four trains from here.
 
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 1, 85, 00,130 (Rupees One Crore eighty five lakh one hundred thirty).  (KNN/SD)
