EPCES expresses gratitude to UPPCL for waiving off one-month electricity fixed charge

New Delhi, Jun 24 (KNN) Export Promotion Council for EOUs & SEZs (EPCES) has expressed gratitude to Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) for waiving off one-month electricity fixed charge.

“Since, the electricity was not in use in the month of April 2020 and May 2020, we were receiving requests from the units to ask Uttar Pradesh Government to waive off fixed charge for 3 months, because of the slowdown in businesses due to nationwide lockdown. Accordingly, we made the request and got the partial relief,” said Vilas Gupta, Regional Chairman EPCES-Noida SEZ.

While thanking UPPCL, Gupta also requested to consider the waiver for 3 months to provide relief to the industry in this pandemic situation.

''As the situation improves, UPPCL may take appropriate measures to square off this waiver. It is a time to support the call made by our Prime Minister “Atmanirbhar Bharat”, he added.

As the UPPCL waived off one-month fixed charge on electricity bill following a request made by EPCES an Apex body, setup by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry has given relief to the commercial and industrial units of Uttar Pradesh.

The relief has been provided on the conditions that units should clear all their past dues up to June 30, 2020.
