Ernakulam district panchayat in Kerala to conduct 14 workshops to promote entrepreneurship
Ernakulam, Sept 3 (KNN) The Ernakulam district panchayat is launching an entrepreneurial promotion campaign ‘District Entrepreneurship Corridor (DEC)’.
The primary aim of this campaign is to identify potential entrepreneurs, and introduce them to various entrepreneurial initiatives and supporting schemes before handholding them to set up their own units.
To begin this campaign, a one-day workshop for budding entrepreneurs from Alangad block will be held at UC College, Aluva. A total of 14 workshops will be conducted across all the block panchayats.
Minister for Law and Industries P. Rajeeve will inaugurate the workshop.
“We have made an initial allocation of Rs 50 lakh for entrepreneurship promotion under the scheme. The assistance will be further expanded depending on the response to the programme. Group initiatives by two or more persons will be eligible for assistance. The project is in tune with the State government’s goal of setting up one lakh initiatives this year,” said Ullas Thomas, district panchayat president.
Each workshop will be conducted in accordance with the requirements of the area for whom it is being held.
Keeping in mind that the Alangad block is largely agrarian, the workshop will focus on the potential of enterprises based on agriculture and allied services.
It will feature three technical sessions, including those based on value-added initiatives related to banana, jackfruit, and tapioca, and feasible small and medium enterprises.
During the workshops, banks will also provide information related to various loan schemes available for entrepreneurs to start their businesses. (KNN Bureau)
