ESIC, Sikkim & WB, starts linking Aadhar number of Insured Persons/family members through its portal

Kolkata, Aug 11 (KNN) The Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has introduced the facility of linking of Aadhar number of Insured Persons/family members through its portal www.esic.in.

The uploading/updation of Aadhar Number in the Portal is a simple, one-step process and can be done during IP Registration by the employer or at any time subsequently by IP himself, his employer or at any ESIC Branch Office, Regional Office of ESIC, West Bengal and Sikkim Region, said in a communication to the MSME associations.

The advantages of linking Aadhar Number, the ESIC said are –

1. Pehchan Card is not required if Aadhar linking is done for IP and family members. A copy of system-generated TIC (renamed as "e-Pehchan card") is sufficient for obtaining benefits under the ESI Scheme and will replace the Pehchan Card.

2. IPs and family members including sick/aged dependants are therefore spared the trouble of visiting Branch Offices for photo capturing. The "e-Pehchan Card" will replace the Pehchan Card.

3. IP need not worry about the risk of losing the Pehchan Card and need not spend Rs 50/-in case of loss/defacement of Pehchan Card. The "e- Pehchan Card" can be printed any number of times from the online system.

4. Accurate identification through Aadhar Based verification of IPs/family members for smooth delivery of benefits.

The ESIC said, “…it is extremely important that the Aadhar Number of all IPs and their family members are uploaded at the earliest in order to avail these benefits.”
