Lucknow, Nov 23 (KNN) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, in a written letter to Union Minister of State for Textiles (Independent Charge) Santosh Kumar Gangwar, said there is a positive prospect for investment in the textile sector in the state.

With the view to create jobs and boost export, he urged Ganwar to re-consider about opening NIFT centres in Lucknow, Noida and Bareilly.

He said that the state government has implemented a Textile Industry Policy-2014, along with the Industrial Development Policy, which throws up positive and bright prospects for investment in the sector and its expansion.

The Chief Minister has further pointed out, in his letter, that readymade garment and apparel industry is already established in Kanpur, Meerut, Noida, Lucknow and Bareilly.
He said that the state government was ready to provide free-of-cost land for these centres.

He noted that the existing three centres were not enough for vast and populous state like UP.

“If these centres are set up, then the quality in textile industry would improve further,” he wrote.

“It would also help in creating jobs and chances of export of clothes will also be boosted further,” he wrote. (KNN Bureau)
