Every district of Telangana to have food processing zones under new policy

Hyderabad, July 26 (KNN) According to Telangana’s new food processing policy all the 33 districts of the state will get a special food processing zone.

The Chandrashekar Rao-led government envisions to boost the food processing sector in the state through newly approved policy.

In every district, special zones of approximately 500 acres each are being planned with logistics and warehousing support.

It also includes export-oriented infrastructure, pollution mitigation measures, plug and play facilities for start-ups and MSMEs.

The approval of the Telangana food processing policy was done with an objective of encouraging enterprises across 10,000 acres of special food processing zones.

Additional provisions for SCs, STs, minorities, women entrepreneurs and farmers groups are provided under this.

Special incentives are also approved for industries to be set up in the food processing zones.

Many new investments were made in the past one year in the state especially in sub-sectors such as dairy, beverages, animal feed, pet food and snack foods.

A total of 60 new food processing industries with proposed investments of Rs 2,309 crore and proposed employment of more than 20,000 personnel were granted by the state government.

Some of the top brands from these sectors which will establish their new plants in Telangana are Amul, Mars Petcare, Fishin’ Company and Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages.  (KNN Bureau)
