FOPSIA urges newly formed AAP govt to resolve issue of unscheduled power cuts

Chandigarh, April 8 (KNN) Federation of Punjab Small Industries Association (FOPSIA) has requested the newly elected Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab to resolve the issue of unscheduled power cuts.

In an interaction with KNN India, Badish Jindal, President of FOPSIA said that unscheduled power cuts in the month of April are shocking and worrisome for the industries as currently the demand is between 8000mw to 9000mw which will increase by 6000mw in the month of June and July.

“There is no high demand due to temperature and the industrial activities reamin slow with no farming load,” he added.

If this is the current power situation how will the industries manage during the upcoming months when the demand will cross 15000 mw, Jindal stated.

If the government fails to address the issue of unscheduled cuts the industries will be impacted majorly as units cannot run on Genset due to rising cost of diesel.

The power outage is likely due to the shortage in coal supply to the state's thermal power plants which has drooped the rate of power generation.

Currently the state is getting 4336 MW of power, including 1145 MW from state-owned thermal power plants, 2680 MW from private thermal power plants, 358 MW from hydropower plants, besides 153 MW from other sources. (KNN/KT)
