FOSMI to host MSME seminar in WB

Kolkata, June 24 (KNN) In order to promote the small units of the state, Federation of Small and Medium Industries (FOSMI) will organize a seminar on the needs and opportunities for the micro, small and medium enterprises in Bengal.

The seminar will coincide with the FOSMI 52nd Annual General Meeting on on June 26.

The seminar, ‘MSMEs in Bengal – Needs and Opportunities’ will be followed by an interactive session among the participants.

FOSMI, which has a membership of over 1,000 entrepreneurs works towards the problem of unemployment and industrialisation in the state.

West Bengal Small Industries Development Corporation Ltd (WBSIDC), Chairman, Sabyasachi Bagchi will be the chief guest on the occasion.

The other members of the meeting will be Dipankar Dasgupta, and Economist Binay K Dutta, Chairman, West Bengal Pollution Control Board.

There are about 15.1 Lakh numbers of Micro and Small Scale Enterprises (MSSEs) in the State providing employment to nearly 35 Lakh people. As per the National Sample Survey there were about 27.5 Lakh numbers of unorganized Industrial units in the State providing employment to 55 Lakh people. West Bengal has a prominent position in the nation with regard to strength and volume of MSSEs. (KNN)
