GAME Park to provide employment to 15,000

Hyderabad, Jan 08 (KNN)  The Government of Andhra Pradesh has taken yet another pioneering step forward by establishing a first-of-its-kind GAME (Gaming, Animation, Media and Entertainment) Park here.

Once complete, the Park will provide space to 100 enterprises in the sector, employment opportunities for 15000 professionals and a net additional export revenue generation of USD 500 million.

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy laid the foundation stone for the GAME Tower on Wednesday. He also officially unveiled the AP Gaming, Animation Media and Entertainment Policy 2014-2019.

The project would comprise 600,000 sq ft of built-up space in the first phase, providing support to all areas of the screen media, publishing and the audio sector.  It would have the most advanced production and post-production centre with a high degree of flexibility.

While the studio complex would serve as a plug and play incubation centre, it would also create opportunities in the areas of animation entertainment, animation web designing, animation e-education and e-learning, PC and Mobile Gaming, Console Gaming, Online/Multiplayer Gaming.

The project is planned in line with the International Animation and Gaming Parks located in Dubai, Manchester, Amsterdam, Montreal and South Korea. It is poised to give an incredible business experience to startups and SMEs.

Speaking on the occasion Reddy said, “The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Sector has been performing consistently well in the past.  Andhra Pradesh has emerged as a state that provides the right climate for the growth of IT, IT enabled services, Electronic Hardware and Animation and Gaming Industry.”
This particular game park is located in the CDA cluster which is a part of the ITIR.

With a policy driven growth, Andhra Pradesh is poised to become the most preferred investment destination in the country.   While GAME Park breaks new ground, Andhra Pradesh having a vast industry-ready talent pool, excellent and affordable physical and digital infrastructure, world class educational and research eco-system, will give a major fillip to the local Animation and gaming companies to compete in global markets.

Also present on the occasion was IT Minister, Government of Andhra Pradesh, PonnalaLakshmaiah.  “Futuristic and comprehensive investor friendly GAME Policy has been drafted after thorough deliberations with the animation and gaming industry, and I am happy to release the same today for the benefit of the Industry,” he said.

Minister IT added, “With a policy driven growth agenda, competent and abundant talent pool and world class infrastructure, I am confident that Andhra Pradesh is poised to become the prominent destination for the Animation and Gaming Industry globally and we are now in a position to push forward this emerging sector.”

Leading International companies in Animation and Gaming space such as DQ Entertainment, Seven Seas, Green Gold Animation, Digiquest, etc have welcomed this initiative of the state government.

Hyderabad based Animation Industry has received national and international accolades for their work on Life of Pi, Arundhati, Magadheera, Eega, etc which have brought a revolutionary change in the Industry.

The State has already allocated 30 acres for the GAME Park. It is also to develop the incubation centre (GAME Towers), worth around Rs 350 crore at the facility.

Infrastructures such as roads, electricity are being developed for the entire park for attracting new companies. Incubation centre will enable ‘walk to work’ and ‘plug and play’ built up office space. The space will be provided at subsidised rates to first generation technocrat entrepreneurs, SMEs engaged in gaming, animation, media and entertainment activities, and also consists of all common amenities, housing, recreation, schools, entertainment centres, and medical facilities.

The IT department conducted a second review meeting for initiation of the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) recently with other government departments such as Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) and Transmission Corporation of Andhra Pradesh.

Other dignitaries at the event included Union State Minister, Sarvey Satya Narayana and the Ministers D Sridhar Babu, J Geetha Reddy, G Prasad Kumar, Mohammad Majid Hussain-Mayor GHMC and other MPs,  MLAs and senior officials.  (KNN/MSR)
