GCCI urges Goa govt to extend preferential purchase incentive scheme for MSEs

Panaji, April 27 (KNN) Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has appealed to the Goa government to extend the preferential purchase incentive scheme for micro and small enterprises (MSEs) 2008.

The trade body has reached out to the Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho requesting for an extension.

The scheme was expired on March 31, 2021 and has not been further extended.

Stakeholders had pointed out that they were losing the MSME exemptions for waiver of

security deposits, EMD value and also payments were getting delayed, said GCCI Director General Sanjay Amonkar.

Hence GCCI has urged the government to extend the scheme for a three years so that the loss incurred from its expiration can be compensated.

Speaking about the benefits of the scheme for MSEs, Rohan Bhandare, Chairman of GCCI Taxation Committee said if the scheme is extended MSEs will be allowed to match to lowest tender price floated by non-small Scale Units.

However it’s important that the quoted price is within 15 per cent of lowest quoted price floated by Non- Micro and Small Enterprises, he added. (KNN Bureau)
