GeM registers highest vendors from Maharashtra followed by UP and Tamil Nadu

Chennai, Aug 27 (KNN) About 8,83,907 vendors from Maharashtra have registered on Government e-Marketplace (GeM) marking its top position. 

Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu stand at second and third position with 4,08,946 and 4,06,961 registration, respectively.

GeM CEO Prashant Kumar Singh said this on Friday while addressing a meeting organised by the Press Information Bureau in Chennai, reported The Hindu.

Since the start of GeM, Tamil Nadu government organisations had made procurement worth Rs 1,090 crore through the portal.

GeM orders worth Rs 7,185 crore was secured by sellers from Tamil Nadu, he said. 

While delivering his keynote address at the CII Southern Region MSME Procurement Summit, he said in the coming months GeM is planning to host awareness programmes in the state to react out to MSMEs. 

He said the objective is to increase the number of sellers from Tamil Nadu.

The Summit organised by the CII was aimed at providing opportunity to MSMEs to develop business linkages and grow their business.  (KNN Bureau)
