Ahmedabad, Dec 18 (KNN)  A giant Ferris Wheel will soon come up in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Riverfront in an initiative to promote tourism, recreation and employment in the state.

The ferris wheel project to be set up by Sabarmati River Front Development Corporation Limited (SRFDCL) will be similar to other world class projects like London’s Eye, Singapore’s Flyer, Eye of Emirates, Star of Nancheng and New York Wheel.

The project will be operated on public private partnership (PPP) basis.

Towards this, the corporation has invited bids from experienced firms to share their proposals on development of the project.  The scope of work would be conceptualisation, design, financing, installation and implementation, commissioning, operations, maintenance and management of the Giant Ferris Wheel.

The Sabarmati Riverfront Development Project began as an urban renewal project to significantly improve the spatial structure and habitat conditions of the river and adjoining areas. This project aims to transform Ahmedabad’s historic yet neglected river into a vibrant and vital focus for the city.  (KNN/ST)
