GIZ and MSME-TC, Aurangabad organizes 2-days training on DFMA for MSMEs

Aurangabad, July 20 (KNN) Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH along with MSME-Technology Centre, Aurangabad, organized a two-day training workshop on Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). 

The two-day workshop on “Efficient Product Design for Manufacturing and Assembly” was intended to provide the practical training and Applications of DFMA Technique. The focus of training program was on concepts, case studies, software hands-on opportunity.

This program was organized under the Innovation project framework, jointly implemented by Ministry of MSME and GIZ.

“New Product Development (NPD) is a complex and creative process, having a great design is one thing, bringing that design effectively to market is another. The ability to deliver innovative products on-time, at the right cost and quality is a good indicator of a company’s NPD capability,” said Tasvvar Ali, Technical Expert-Promotion of Innovation in MSMEs.

Indian MSMEs and Engineers are constrained to produce designs that are lean, robust, simple to assemble and easy to manufacture.  To remain competitive, the y are facing the need to make decisions to optimize /economize design of equipment whether, Mechanical or Electrical/Electronic, he added.

He said the workshop was organized in order to address this very important challenge for MSMEs.

The 2-day DFMA training program was attended by MSMEs representatives, Academic Faculty, and Students, this training would also help academia to efficiently design and develop Academic and industry oriented projects and industry people would get a sight on evaluating "COST & TIME" implications of their design & aim at production of high value products.

Total 34 participants attended the training program, which was conducted by DFMA Expert from D-Espat, Chennai.

Trainer, Sayed has explained the need of using the DFMA concept and how it could lead to better and cost effective design of product. All Participants were amazed to learn such a tool by which they can optimize the cost of their product and processes without spending too much time and analysis.

At the end of 2-day program, each participants was able to take up the individual exercise for applying the DFMA Tool. IGTR Aurangabad has taken an initiative to organize short term industry specific program on latest technology.
