GNIDA sets up committee to alter structural safety guidelines of buildings

Noida, Feb 21 (KNN) A committee has been formed by the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) to conduct a detailed study on the structural safety certificate of building and introduce certain modifications where required.

IIT-Delhi will help the authority for the study and is expected to submit the report in 15 days.

This step by GNIDA follows the vertical collapse of living rooms of five flats from the sixth to the second floors one of the towers at Chintels Paradiso, a condominium in Gurgaon's Sector 109.

Two residents died during the incident which sparked outrage among residents across the National Capital Region demanding structural audits of their complexes.

Hence, GNIDA officials announced that a committee comprising officials from its project, planning, builder cell, legal and finance departments under Additional CEO (ACEO) Amandeep Duli has been formed.

It will prepare a standard draft on structural safety, including modifications to the existing format.

The revised rules would be applicable for all builder societies and high-rises in the city. (KNN Bureau)
