The district-level committees will be required to provide monitoring as well as logistical support such as power and connectivity for each agricultural credit society.

This move by the state government comes after receiving a green light from the centre to digitise PACS.On June 30, the centre’s cabinet committee on economic affairs (CCEA) approved the digitalisation process with a budgetary outlay of Rs 2,516 crore.

As per reports, the IAS officer holding charge of the department for cooperatives will be the chairman of the committee whereas the managing director of the Goa State Co-operative Bank will be the member secretary.

Representatives from the finance department, registrar of co-operative societies, state informatics and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) will be the committee members.

Goa has close to 80 agricultural cooperative credit societies most of which are in South Goa.  (KNN Bureau)
