Develop Goa As Multi-Modal Maritime Logistics Hub: CM Urges Centre

Panaji, Oct 18 (KNN) The Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday urged the central government to develop Goa’s coastline as a major multi-modal maritime logistics hub.

“Lighthouse tourism is the new buzz in the tourism industry. Countries across the world are realising its potential and are developing this segment. We have taken steps towards developing lighthouses as a world-class tourism spot. The ministry of ports has decided to monetise the existing assets in the form of lighthouses, and Goa stands to make the most of this opportunity,” Sawant said.

At the event, he call upon the stakeholders and investors of the maritime sector to invest to make Goa a major skilling-hub for this sector, and assure all the necessary support from the government of Goa.

Sawant said that Goa’s maritime sector is a multi-faceted powerhouse driving economic growth, innovation, and connectivity. “From shipbuilding and repair to cruise tourism, from maritime education to port-led industrialisation, the state’s contributions are diverse and impactful. Goa has the inherent advantage of becoming the maritime hub of the country,” he added.
