GIDC managing director Pravimal Abhishek told industrialists and stakeholders at the CII Goa Conference on multi modal logistics that between February and this month, IDC has invested almost Rs 35 crore to Rs 40 crore to improve the infrastructure at many industrial estates.

Though plots at the Panchwadi Industrial Estate were put up for lease in 2014, the industrial estate lacks power supply, internal roads, raw water supply and firefighting equipment. The GIDC continued to collect rent from the industrialists even though basic infrastructure was missing at Panchwadi, Shiroda and Latambarcem.

At the event, Abhishek said that the GIS-based survey of all industrial estates is nearly complete and investors will soon be able to track individual plots and the available infrastructure around the plots.

Chief minister Pramod Sawant who was also present for the conference said that the government is fully committed to support industries in the logistics sector.

Abhishek said that the Plot Allotment Regulations 2014 and Transfer & Sub-lease Rules 2018 have been scrapped and been replaced by a single set of regulations- the Allotment, Transfer and Sub-Lease and Surrender Regulations, 2023.  (KNN Bureau)
