Goa Govt Ready To Amend Policies To Attract Foreign Investment

Panaji, Mar 13 (KNN) Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho has called upon Goa's private sector to play an active role in attracting foreign investors, multinational companies, and manufacturing units to the state, emphasising that the government is prepared to modify existing policies to accommodate multinational corporations.

Addressing members of the Confederation of Indian Industry, Godinho noted that numerous companies are seeking to relocate from volatile markets and establish manufacturing ecosystems in India.

"Investors from all over the world look at India, and while they look at India, why not make them look at Goa? Make these multinationals, make these large industries look at Goa," Godinho stated.

"We are ready to change our policies," he added.

The minister emphasised that while the government is committed to creating favourable policy frameworks, it is incumbent upon the private sector to collaborate and persuade foreign investors to choose Goa as their destination.

"You can never get a better atmosphere than Goa has to offer, and in the industrial sector, we were able to promote the ecosystem where slowly but steadily it is building up in a manner that we will be known for manufacturing. The industry must tell us what that little extra is that they want," he remarked.

Godinho also announced plans to simplify procedures for companies seeking vertical expansion of floor space and built-up areas within industrial estates.

Additionally, he encouraged industrial units to consider utilising Goamiles as a transportation service for women employees and night shift workers.
