Goa to conduct study on identifying key constraints of MSME growth

Panaji, Apr 20 (KNN) The Industries Department of Goa is planning to hold a study to identify key restraints faced by MSMEs as the state is struggling to attract new manufacturing units.

It is looking for a consultant to lead this study for eight months, reported TOI.

The consultant will also have to recommend policies and schemes that will sustain existing MSMEs as well as encourage more units to come to Goa.

The industries department also wants to map all the existing MSME units in Goa, which could help identify the types of products and services manufactured or offered in the state.

The state hopes to achieve this through a strategic investment plan (SIP) as part of the Centre’s Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) programme.

“A critical part of the SIP is the assessment of MSMEs in Goa at the district level, across various parameters. The baseline study should cover all details pertaining to the current ecosystem of MSMEs,” said the industries department.

The consultant will have to identify MSME clusters, their exact location with sector-wise information, and then specify if the MSME is headed by a woman, the amount of employment created, the quality of production, and exports if any.  (KNN Bureau)
