Goa To Have Its Own Design Policy For IT Sector

Panaji, Oct 16 (KNN) The information technology (IT) community of Goa along with the state government is working on a dedicated policy for design startups, reported TOI.

The aim is to create a strategy to develop a distinctive niche for Goa in the country’s IT ecosystem.

This is an objective outlined by IT minister Rohan Khaunte and to pursue it stakeholders from the design community met with the IT department’s startup and IT promotion cell (SITPC) to discuss approaches.

“As we embark on the initial steps of what promises to be a series of enlightening discussions, our pursuit of cultivating a refined framework gains momentum,” said chief executive officer (CEO) of SITPC, D S Prashant. He said that deliberations with stakeholders “is a reassuring indicator” of the future of the initiative.

SITPC reports to the directorate of information technology, electronics, and communications, and serves as the nodal body for startups and entrepreneurial initiatives in the IT sector.

The cell made a presentation on the objectives of the government and discussed possible ways to transform Goa into a creative economy hub.

“The presentation highlighted the numerous merits of this approach and the exceptional opportunities awaiting Goa as it strives to become the pioneering design state of India. We are heartened by the creative community’s response to the minister’s call to carve out a distinctive niche for Goa,” said Prashant.

SITPC is working on various ways that the government can collaborate with the private sector to build financial, technology, physical, learning and training facilities, and policy support. The idea of establishing intellectual property around design and creation in Goa was also discussed.
