Government announces sops for electronic gadgets and chip manufacturers

Hyderabad, Apr 2 (KNN) The Centre has announced various sops for Andhra Pradesh including the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster Scheme which provides 50 per cent financial support for the setting up of electronic gadgets and chip units  in three districts, said Minister of State for Information Technology Killi Kruparani today.

“The government will implement the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster Scheme in four locations in Andhra Pradesh, two in Rangareddy district, one at Srikakulam and one at Visakhapatnam, in coordination with the AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) which will identify land for this purpose.

“Under this scheme, electronic gadgets, chips manufacturing can set up their units with 50 per cent financial support by the government.  It will generate a lot of employment in Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Srikakulam, Visakhapatanam and other adjoining areas,” she said here.

In addition the government is also planning to set up an Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) in Hyderabad, the announcement of which will be made during the next three months.

“This will attract more investment for the State in the Information Technology and Information Technology Enabled Service (ITES) sectors and will provide more direct employment to the people,” said Kruparani.

Further, a National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Centre will be set up in Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh with an outlay of Rs 50 Crores for imparting training to youths in the field of Information Technology through short-term and long-term courses. (KNN)
