Govt should not just focus on FDIs, should look into infra needs of small industry as well: Gujarat MSMEs

Surat, Jan 11 (KNN) Rather than just putting impetus on bringing more FDIs into the state, the Gujarat Government should also look into the infrastructural needs of the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the state, said Federation of Industries and Association (FIA).

With a vision to strengthen the foundation for Gujarat to become economically and socially the most developed state in India in the coming years, the Vibrant Guajarat Summit-2017 is being organized in the state.

The President of Federation of Industries and Association (FIA) Jagdishbhai S.Ramani told KNN that the government should also focus on MSMEs, as the sector has lot of expectations from the Vibrant Summit.

“It would be appreciable if government considers the basic needs of MSMEs rather than just focusing on the FDI. If the government cannot improve the infrastructure for the industries here they how will the foreign companies invest here,” said Ramani.

He also said that government should increase the budget for the industrial sector in the state.

“We would like to appeal the government that the budget for MSME infrastructure should be increased from rupees 200 crore to rupees 800 crore,” added Ramani.

According to him, there will be a conference scheduled on Thursday for MSMEs in the Summit, followed by award distribution.

He emphasized that the government should also keep small industries in mind as they complement the big industries.

“Government should consider the small industries as they are being ignored for so long,” said Ramani.

Government of Gujarat has organized the 8th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit from the 10th to 13th of January 2017 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar. (KNN/RAS)
