Govt to probe into fund misuse by West Bengal cos

New Delhi, Aug 6 (KNN) The government has ordered probes against 63 companies in West Bengal for alleged misappropriation of funds collected from public.

“On the basis of complaints received alleging misappropriation of funds collected from public by certain companies in West Bengal, the Ministry has ordered investigation u/s 235 of the Companies Act, 1956 into the affairs of 63 companies,” said Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

The total number of companies and Limited Liability Partnership (LLPs) registered in the state till the end of June 2014 are 1,82,417 and 1,168 respectively.

As many as 9939 companies and 461 LLPs were registered in West Bengal during 2013- 2014. The number of such companies and LLPs registered during 2014-2015 were 577 and 121 respectively. (KNN/ST)
