Greater cooperation mooted between Punjab govt-industry for sustainable development of MSME Clusters

Chandigarh, July 30 (KNN) The Punjab government has planned to increase its support towards its industry to achieve the sustainable development of MSME clusters. 

The need for the industry and government to work together for it was highlighted on Friday by Harpal Singh Cheema, Finance, Planning, Excise and Taxation and Programme Implementation Minister.

He was chairing the session of Regional Industry Dialogue on Sustainability organized by UNDP and ASSOCHAM (north region council).

Speaking about the government’s plan way forward he said, “Punjab Government has planned to take a multipronged approach and involve different stakeholders at all levels through convergence of available development resources and coordination among stakeholders.”

Highlighting some initiatives he spoke about the MoU signed with Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) to start the umbrella initiative ‘Mission Swavalamban’ over a three-year term.

He also said that microfinance sector would be promoted by the state government and a supportive environment for private microfinance operators would be created.  (KNN Bureau)
