Guj CM raises assistance for Khadi weavers & spinners to 3-5 times

Ahmedabad, July 2 (KNN) Giving a boost to the weavers and spinners in the state, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel has extended an increase of three to five times in the assistance provided to Khadi spinners and weavers.
 
According to this decision, about 7000 spinner-beneficiaries belonging to scheduled castes will be paid 100 paise instead of 30 paise per hank, an increase of over three times. Weavers will be paid three times than before- 300 paise per sq. meter, instead of 100 paise. Also, assistance to weavers for tools and equipment has been raised five times, from 20 paise per sq. meter to 100 paise.
 
About 1000 spinner-beneficiaries belonging to scheduled tribes will be extended three times the assistance, from 150 paise to 50 paise per hank. Weavers will be extended 3.5 times the assistance than before- 400 paise to 120 paise per sq. meter. Assistance to ST weavers for tools and equipments has been raised five times, from 20 paise to 100 paise per sq. meter.
 
Patel’s decision will benefit over 12,800 weavers and spinners of rural Gujarat. (KNN Bureau)
