Gujarat govt to table Single-window clearance law in Assembly; MSMEs enthusiastic about the bill

New Delhi, Aug 4 (KNN) In a bid to address the repeated requests of the industrial sector of the state, the Gujarat government is likely to table the Single-Window clearance bill in the upcoming session of the assembly. The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of the state are eyeing at the law with a lot of hopes, Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry informed.

Talking to KNN, Dharmendra Joshi, Secretary General of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) informed about the upcoming bill.

Joshi said that the industrial sector, especially the MSMEs have been waiting for such law for the state to be able to do business with ease.

He informed that at present for an entrepreneur to set up an industrial unit, it takes months to get the clearances from different department, which hampers the ease of doing business in the state.

Under the proposed bill, the government will be facilitating single window clearance, and the industry department will be acting as the nodal agency. Entrepreneurs will have to approach the industry department for the clearance instead of going to multiple departments for obtaining the certificates.

Joshi said that the government have been conducting talks with his association as well as other MSME bodies in the region, and the demands of the sector have been considered well by the government.

Also with the law in place, a time bound clearance will accelerate ease of doing business and also put a check on the corruption that used to take place at the different departmental layers.

With the Gujarat Assembly session starting from August 8, the bill is likely to come into action soon, he added. (KNN/ DA)
