Gujarat MSMEs to benefit most from SPI scheme: IDMA president

Ahmedabad, July 29 (KNN) The strengthening of pharmaceutical industry (SPI) scheme has been introduced to reinforce the pharmaceuticals sector and we believe Gujarat MSME pharma units will get the most advantage of this, Indian Drug Manufacturers Association (IDMA) president Viranchi Shah said.

The scheme will provide credit-linked capital and interest subsidies for technological upgradation of Pharma MSMEs. It will also provide support of up to Rs 20 crore each for common facilities in pharma clusters such as research centres, testing labs and ETPs.

“The scheme will provide capital subsidies for technology upgrades and will help small companies achieve global standards. It will also help create better common facilities for MSME units. We are going to make MSME units aware about this scheme across the country soon,” shah said.

SPI scheme will play an important role in assisting small companies to upgrade their facilities to global manufacturing standards. It will also help in providing a boost to the demand-based research.

IDMA aims to educate more than 3,000 pharmaceutical units present in Gujarat about the scheme to ensure that the state increases its prominence in the pharma sector.  (KNN Bureau)
