Surat’s Jari manufacturers welcome govt’s move to reduce GST on jari threads

Surat, July 13 (KNN) The Jari manufacturers from Surat welcomed the government’s move to reduce the GST duty on jari threads from 12 per cent to 5 per cent.

Surat Jari Manufacturers Association president Navin Jariwala said, “Our profits had taken a hit due to the 12 per cent GST on Jari. We are happy that the government has looked into our demands made through Union Minister Darshana Jardosh.”

“For the reduction of the GST duties, we, along with the association members, had earlier made representations to late Union Minister Arun Jaitley, Santosh Gangwar and the GST Council. We made another representation a couple of months ago,” he said.

The GST rate cut was a long-standing demand of the Surat jari manufacturers since the introduction of GST in July 2017.

The GST Council’s 50th meeting was held in Delhi on July 11, 2023, under the chairmanship of the Union Finance & Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.  (KNN Bureau)
