Gurugram MSMEs write to Haryana Deputy CM seeking basic amenities

Gurugram, Jun 24 (KNN) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have written to the Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala apprising him of the poor civic amenities in several areas of the city where MSMEs are located.

In a letter to Chautala who also holds the industry and commerce portfolio, on Monday, they (MSMEs) said areas like Daulatabad Road, Kadipur, Basai road, Road, Pataudi Road, Behrampur, Sheetla Mata Colony and Khandsa Road lack basic facilities, including roads, sewerage and drinking water.

JN Mangla, president of Gurugram Industrial Association (GIA) feared that the monsoon will further worsen the situation, as the roads there are in a hasty condition and get waterlogged when it rains.

''Around three lakh workers are employed in 4,000 MSMEs in these areas. These units are providing parts and accessories to big industries like Maruti, Hero MotoCorp and Honda, among others. They lack basic amenities like drains, roads and supply of drinking water,'' he said.

''Movement of vehicles is affected and workers face difficulties in reaching the factories located there,” he added.

Since, the lockdown restrictions have been removed, the association further demanded basic development work in these areas.

“Now that the lockdown restrictions have been removed and industrial units are functioning properly, we have requested the deputy chief minister to issue necessary instructions to provide basic facilities in the industrial areas of Gurugram,” Mangla asserted.

City-based industrialist, Sandeep Jain, who owns an industrial unit in Khandsa Road, said the government has issued power connections, environmental and fire safety licences to them and they are paying their taxes on time, but the industrial area still doesn’t have basic facilities.
