Haryana bars road side checking by Excise & Taxation officers

Chandigarh, Feb 22 (KNN) The Haryana government has barred the Excise and Taxation officers in-charge of the wards roadside checking duties and registering a First Information Report (FIR) in any case without the prior approval of the Excise and Taxation Commissioner.

''It has been decided by the Government that the Excise and Taxation Officers or Assistant Excise and Taxation Officers in-charge of the wards shall not be assigned roadside checking duties.

Further, it has also been decided that no officer shall lodge a First Information Report (FIR) in any case without the prior approval of the Excise and Taxation Commissioner.

It is, therefore, desired that the above instructions may be complied with in letter and spirit,'' said Excise and Taxation Commissioner Haryana, Panchkula in a letter dated February 17th, 2021 to all the Joint Excise and Taxation Commissioners, All the Deputy Excise and Taxation Commissioner (ST), in the state of Haryana.

''It’s a welcome step by the Haryana Government. It will prevent harassment and threat,'' said a Gurugram based industrialist Dr. Animesh Saxena to KNN India.
