Haryana Govt’s Freight Assistance Scheme to benefit 6000 MSME exporters across the state: MIWA

Manesar, July 27 (KNN) Around 6000 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) in the state would be benefitted from the "Freight Assistance Scheme" of the Haryana Government, said Manmohan Gaind, Vice President of Manesar Industrial Welfare Association (MIWA).

Haryana Government on July 25, 2016 notified the "Freight Assistance Scheme" for MSME exporters across the state.

The exporters are required to submit their claims for the financial year 2015-16by September 9, 2016 on the web portal of the Industries and Commerce Department.

Hailing the scheme, Gaind said, “Basically one per cent of your Freight on Board (FOB) value, they will pay you as freight subsidy upto Rs 25 lakhs because Haryana is a landlocked state.”

“Exporters will be benefited more from this scheme,” he added.

He further said that the government has taken this initiative themselves.

However, he informed that the Government used to give one per cent freight subsidy four years ago but later they discontinued the scheme.

The decision was taken in the backdrop of the additional cost that is borne by the MSMEs exporting units located in the state due to large distances from the sea ports. This distance results in making their products non-competitive in comparison to the exporting units located in the coastal areas.

The assistance would be admissible only in case of direct export of the goods manufactured by the exporting units and no amount would be given for export by air. (KNN/ AR)
