Haryana Mandates Physical Verification For System-Approved GST Registrations
Chandigarh, Mar 10 (KNN) The Excise and Taxation Department of Haryana has directed mandatory physical verification of GST registrations that were automatically approved by the system and ordered correction of cases where taxpayers have been mapped to incorrect jurisdictions.
The instructions follow observations that a large number of registrations had been approved automatically under provisions of the Central Goods and Services Tax Rules 2017. Officials noted that such approvals were granted within a short span through system-driven processes.
Physical Verification and Fixed Timeline
To ensure authenticity and regulatory compliance, the department has mandated that all system-approved registrations must undergo physical verification by the concerned jurisdictional officers.
Taxation Inspectors have been asked to complete the verification and update the status on the Goods and Services Tax Network (GST portal) within specified timelines.
Registrations approved in November 2025 must be verified by December 31, while those approved in December 2025 must be verified by January 15.
The department has also identified instances where taxpayers were assigned to incorrect wards or districts. Sub-State Administrators have been directed to review such cases and shift taxpayers to the appropriate district or ward jurisdiction. Cases involving inter-range transfers will require approval from the State Administrator at the head office.
Monitoring Mechanism
Officials have been instructed to complete jurisdictional corrections by December 22, 2025. A list of taxpayers requiring verification or jurisdiction correction has been made available on the system for field officers to review.
Deputy Excise and Taxation Commissioners (State Taxes) have been tasked with monitoring the verification and correction process to ensure timely compliance. The department said the measures aim to strengthen scrutiny of GST registrations and improve administrative accuracy.
