Haryana MSMEs disagree on ‘Industry isn't providing revenue’ comment by CM Khattar
New Delhi, Feb 23 (KNN) The micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Haryana have expressed disagreement on the statement given by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar stating that the industry isn’t providing revenue and is only seeking concession as a justification for the contentious 75 per cent reservation for private jobs for domiciles.
CM Khattar had said that it’s the role of the state to provide employment and earlier industry used to be a source of revenue but since the rollout of GST the revenue isn’t significantly sourced from the industry owing to the shift from production to consumption.
Speaking with KNN India on this matter, Manmohan Gaind, General Secretary of Manesar Industries Welfare Association (MIWA) said, “We do not agree with the statement of Chief Minister that Industry is seeking concessions and not generating revenue. The GST has brought a change in revenue collections of state from production to consumption. But in implementing the GST, the central government had assured states that they would get there revenues with 15 per cent increase for next 5 years and this has greatly improved state revenues.”
“Industry is generating employment and this directly increases consumption and support local economy as these labour buy everything they need locally and also buy immovable asserts which increases government revenues,” he added
Gaind recognised the government’s role and responsibility to provide jobs to its people, however he said that it shouldn’t at the cost of infringing the fundamental rights of industry.
They need to support industrial activity and make policies to make Haryana the most desirable state for setting up of industry which will ensure jobs to people, he suggested.
Expressing his views to KNN India on CM’s comments, Animesh Saxena, MD of Neetee Clothings Pvt Ltd based in Gurugram cum President, FISME said, “Job reservation is never a right approach in this competitive world. Industry always gives the job for best suitable person.”
Saxena emphasised on quality education and skill development which should be provided by the government to enable local population for employment.
“Unfortunately government failed in doing so, hence it is resorting to job reservation which will create inefficient organisation and deterrent for new ventures and expansions,” he said.
Chief Minister Khattar’s comments comes after the Supreme Court’s decision to set aside the stay order given by Punjab and Haryana High Court on the 75 per cent reservation on private jobs to domiciles of the state.
It has also directed the state government of Haryana to ensure that no coercive actions are taken against employers, and asked the High Court to decide the matter within 4 weeks. (KNN/KT)
