Ambala Airport To Help Improve Connectivity, Promote Industries: CM Khattar

Ambala, Oct 16 (KNN) Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that the city where an airport is established, investment increases, industries are set up there and naturally there is economic progress in that area.

Laying down foundation of the civil enclave of the domestic airport in Ambala Cantonment on Saturday, CM Khattar said that many activities related to the aero industry are being done in the state under which the final process of setting up an airport in Hisar is going on and he hopes that it will be operational by the end of this year or early next year.

Khattar said Haryana will get a lot of strategic benefits in terms of air services, under which Faridabad will get the benefit of the airport being established in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh.

Regarding the civil airport to be established in Ambala, the CM said that this airport will benefit the most because this airport is being established under the UDAAN scheme.

The CM said that for this airport to come up in Ambala, Rs 133 crore has been paid for the defence land and the work of the terminal will be started with an amount of Rs 20.5 crore. The CM said that after the construction of this airport, routes from Ambala to Dehradun, Shimla, Lucknow would open.

Haryana deputy CM and civil aviation minister Dushyant Singh Chautala said that the domestic airport to be established in Ambala will be the third flying airport in the state. He said that to establish this airport, by re-developing the infrastructure, services can be provided to 200 passengers at a time.

Chautala said that air connectivity has increased in the last four years and the number of people traveling in AC trains in the country is about 14 crore, while the number of people traveling in economy class of air is 17 crore, which means that in the coming times, people will move towards air connectivity
