Haryana businessmen seek relaxations on GST returns amidst flash floods in state

Chandigarh, July 17 (KNN) Haryana businesses are urging the state government for some statutory relaxations for filing GST returns amidst heavy losses to businesses due to flash floods, reported TOI.

Ashawant, the president of Ambala unit of Haryana Chamber of Commerce and Industries said, “What can an industrialist do after making huge investments. Since, waterlogging continues to exist in all the units and our computers and other equipment, used in day-to-day functioning, are damaged, how is it possible for us to file the returns now.”

“The government should give us at least six months relaxation for filing GST returns as well as ESI/PF statements. I think it’s time for the government to reciprocate to our efforts of being the honest tax payers,” he said.

As per reports, entrepreneurs, especially those in Ambala, Shahbad, Pundri and Yamunagar are most impacted by the heavy rains in the state.

The entrepreneurs based in the Ambala cantonment blamed the poor drainage or faulty drainage at the time of laying of the national highway as main the reason which flooded the entire industrial area.  (KNN Bureau)
